ACES Education Foundation Gala 2021

Cheryl S. Saloom

Cheryl S. Saloom worked at ACES for more than 16 years until her retirement in January 2006.  She was hired in 1989 as Director of Personnel, became the Assistant Executive Director of Personnel and Programs in 1991 and Executive Director in 2002.  Prior to ACES, Cheryl worked as a teacher in New Haven Public Schools, Hamden Public Schools, Des Moines Area Community College and Rose Laboratory School.  She was a Director of Special Education at Bloomfield Public Schools, Director of Pupil Services and Human Resources at Amity Regional School District and was Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at Southington Public Schools.

Cheryl founded the ACES Education Foundation in 2003 and is a Charter member of the Foundation board, she also co-chaired the Gala for many years with many able partners.  She served for several years on the New Haven Regional Leadership Council representing education along with the area's business community leaders and Chamber of Commerce Leadership.  Cheryl was a member of United Way Board and co-chair of their Early Childhood Study Group and also served as the ACLU, Hartford Chapter President from 2009 to 2018. 

She earned her Bachelors' degree at Quinnipiac University, her Masters' and 6th year degrees at Southern Connecticut State University and was awarded her Doctorate degree from Teacher's College at Columbia University.

Cheryl and Lou delight in time spent with Graig, Ginny and their granddaughters Isla and Tate.  And, they love any opportunity to be with their families and friends!

This organization is a privately owned building services company that has been providing professional cleaning and general maintenance services for nearly 30 years. Originally founded in Connecticut, it is now one of the leading non-franchised building service providers in New England.  Led by President Steve Sadler, PES services a diverse group of customers including commercial and corporate office spaces, schools and universities, factories/warehouses, retail, restaurants, banks, apartments and condominiums, medical facilities, day care facilities and municipalities with a growing team of more than 1,000 employees, managers and supervisors.
